(Louisville, KY) Camp Hendon, the Kentucky Diabetes Camp for Children, Inc. is pleased to announce Megan Cooper as its new executive director. Cooper will be responsible for guiding and expanding the organization, which empowers and changes the lives of children with diabetes in the Kentucky region. Cooper comes to the organization with a range of experience from marketing and advertising, to early childhood education. She received a nationally ranked Entrepreneurship MBA from the University of Louisville, and was named a Forcht Entrepreneurship Fellow for outstanding creation and presentation of a new venture business plan. Most recently Cooper worked as an Account Manager with Louisville-based marketing and advertising agency, Cultivate Advertising. With a passion for social enterprise and a love of children, Cooper felt the opportunity with Camp Hendon was a perfect fit. “I am thrilled to begin this new adventure with Camp Hendon. Being part of an organization that fosters such an important and empowering learning environment for these kids is incredibly humbling,” says Cooper. “Camp Hendon is experiencing an impressive period of growth in terms of the number of children served, and community awareness of our organization. Jumping in during this critical time of expansion and evolution is very exciting for me,” she added. Bryan Fallon, founding member and Chairman of the Board of the Kentucky Diabetes Camp for Children, is equally excited. “Camp Hendon recently formed a partnership with the Lift a Life Foundation which allowed an enormous increase in capacity. Within 10 years, we want 20% of kids with Type 1 diabetes in the Kentucky region to attend three camp sessions. Studies show that after just three sessions, kids’ lives are dramatically changed. Using her skills, drive, and tenacity, Megan will be challenged with leading Camp Hendon into this incredible phase of growth. I couldn’t be happier that she joined our team,” said Fallon. About Camp Hendon, the Kentucky Diabetes Camp for Children Camp Hendon educates, empowers, and inspires children living with Type 1 diabetes. Our programs transform lives, and enable the children we serve to develop diabetes management skills. Not only do they gain knowledge that will help them grow into healthy adults, but almost more important are the relationships they build with other “T1D club member” children. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Camp Hendon conducts diabetes camping and related programs primarily devoted to children, teens, and their families in the Kentucky region.
